“Analogy and Science in Kant’s Critique of Judgment”
In collaboration with Heiner Klemme, Laura Follesa and Silvia De Bianchi organized the event “Analogie und Wissenschaft in Kants Kritik der Urtheilskraft / Analogia e scienza nella Critica del Giudizio di Kant” on 13-15 November 2023 at Villa Vigoni (German-Italian Centre for the European Dialogue). The event also received funding from the DFG and provided a unique venue for debating fundamental aspects of Kant’s Critique of Judgment that shaped his late work, debates in German idealism, literature and art, as well as modern debates on the idea of infinity. The debate will generate further dissemination through a publication. The topics of the event included the discussion of analogy in cosmology, biology and anthropology, Kant’s view of teleology and aesthetics, as well as important insights that Kant’s philosophy offers for current philosophy of mathematics, ecology, and neurosciences. Within the event, the major results deriving from the WS2 of the PROTEUS project have been presented and include the application of Kant’s theory of “Transition” to cosmology in his late work.
